As the late Prof. Russel Botman once said,
“Our vision for our country and continent is a future free from poverty, where the human dignity of all people is protected, where our social and ecological systems are healthy, and where peace, security and democracy are safeguarded”
This evening serves as a testimony to how this vision can be achieved when ordinary people take up the call to make a difference.
Good evening Honourable Reverend Dr. Setri Nyomi, respected Prof. Ingrid Woolard, members of the Russel Botman Bursary Fund committee including Chairperson Dr. Beryl Botman, fellow recipients of 2019, our generous donors and our most valued guests. I am Emma Jane Poole, one of the recipients of the Russel Botman Bursary Fund of 2019.
I, on behalf of the Russel Botman Bursary Fund, would like to extend a very hearty vote of thanks to Reverend Dr. Setri Nyomi and Prof. Ingrid Woolard for sharing with us your knowledge and wisdom regarding economic justice for all this evening.
I, on behalf of the recipients of 2019, would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Russel Botman Bursary Fund committee. Without the dedication of Chairperson Dr. Beryl Botman, Prof. D.X. Simon and Roxanne Gabriella Botman, our dreams as recipients of tertiary education would not have been a reality. We know that we have been truly blessed to be supported in our studies, not just financially but that the committee is dedicated to maintaining close relationships with its recipients.
I, on behalf of the Russel Botman Bursary Fund recipients would also like to extend a hearty vote of thanks to Roxanne Gabriella Botman and Enovation Digital Marketing for donating their services for the social media marketing of the fund. We live in an era in which communication through social media is key and without it, very few people would know about the heart and vision of the Russel Botman Bursary Fund. We thank you for your continuous hard work and dedication.
To our generous donors without whom none of this would be possible, I on behalf of the recipients of 2019, would like to extend our greatest gratitude. We thank you for your monumental generosity and for being active ambassadors for change by supporting the education of those in need and for those with dreams of making a difference. We would like to thank you for attending the annual lecture so that we could personally thank each and every one of you for changing our lives, and for actively participating in us achieving our dreams.
I thank you.
